“And the two shall become one.”

{ A.C. & C.K. }

I’m really struggling on where to begin on this blog post simply because everything (and everyone) in this wedding was pure gold.

I guess a great place to start is my small testimony. Most of you all know that Blue Thistle is slightly older than a year. I am still working on connections and am learning more and more with each wedding that I design. It’s been a blessing to pursue and grow Blue Thistle, BUT! It’s still a baby in the wedding industry.

When Ashlyn reached out to me, I was actually very shocked. This woman is an incredible photographer that has been photographing weddings for years. She’s got a credible amount of connections and has worked with numerous vendors. You can find her work here. What would she want with little ol’ Blue Thistle?

I’ve been praying that Blue Thistle will grow. After all, It’s my passion and my baby! When Ashlyn contacted me I thought, “Wow! Lord you are good! Please let her book, she’s got MANY connections!”

….But when we met, it was more than that! This woman is stunning inside and out. She has a heart desiring God. When you see pictures you will agree that she is gorgeous. But what makes her stand out is her love for Christ.  At this point of meeting for the first time, I found that she was more than a connection, or more than just a Bride trying to book. She’s my sister in Christ.

I could go on about this encounter but I will stop myself and start the photos.

Ashlyn has been so good to me by staying connected on social media and sending me this photo the day after her wedding day. Her words are encouragement and the thoughtfulness blows my mind. When the editing is done, I WILL purchase this photo from Amber!

 Ashlyn envisioned a neutral palette for her wedding day. She kept things simple and elegant. She desired for her bouquet all white with a variety of greenery.  We used two different varieties of dahlias as well as spray alstromeria ( a new variety of alstroemeria recently discovered!) and lisianthus. For her lovely girls she chose the “freshly picked” look but using a few stems of monte casino and wrapping them together with ivory ribbon.

And here are non-professional photos taken by yours truly of Ashlyn’s bouquet…

I chose to use tree fern, spiral eucalyptus, willow/feather eucalyptus, israeli ruscus and italian ruscus for the greenery. I’m a huge fan of greenery and am a fan of anyone that is a fan of greenery 😉 AND! Shout out to my wholesaler for getting me some gorgeous lisianthus! It’s flawless! Another shout out to a local dahlia grower and friend, Jay!

flower crown

Did I mention her dainty flower crown? Simple but stately.  She wore it well.

I hate that I don’t have any pictures of the boutonnieres but we did a variety of greenery for the boutonnieres besides Connors. We used flowers found in the bridal bouquet for his to allow his to stand out.

  1. Hello there. I am Ashlyn’s mother. I am blown away by your blog post. Your words are wonderful and lift up the many wonderful vendors, people who help the magic happen. Thank you so much for the beautiful and amazing flowers. Wow, they were breath taking. Thank you for the extra touches that could be felt. The day of the wedding was a bit overwhelming. But you were thoughtful in how you brought up the flowers and helped make sure they were where they needed to be. Thank you for the extra effort and care it must have taken to help preserve their quality. It showed.

    I hope your business flourishes. Best wishes to you!
